St. Patrick's Day!

Here is a picture of me (Josey) getting ready for St. Patrick's day, which is our favorite holiday!! Normally I drink Irish Cream Latte's at the store, but not today! Here is some info on why this day means so much to Aggie and I:

The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is a medium size terrier with a soft, slightly wavy coat that's the color of wheat. The breed originated over 200 years ago in Southern Ireland as an all purpose working and farm dog. The hardy terriers were used to guard home and family, to herd sheep and cattle, to kill rodents and other vermin, and to hunt small game.

In addition to it's Irish roots, the Wheaten has a unique connection to St. Patrick's Day. On in March 17, 1937, a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier made it's first appearance in the show ring at The Irish Kennel Club Championship Show. Another milestone in the history of the Soft Coated Wheaten occurred on St. Patrick's Day in 1962, with the founding of the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of America.

Enlightened Spartan Latte Time!

It is Tournamant time again for the MSU SPARTAN Basketball team! Aggie and I can't get enough of that handsome Coach Izzo; he is such a wonderful man and always gets te boys ready to play. Lets hope MSU can make it to the final four at Ford Field.

MSU gameday ='s Bloomfield Hills Biggby Enlightened Spartan Latte (white chocolate, green mint, whipped cream and green sprikles) for us! We watch all of the games (football and basketball) there (the health department makes us watch outside on the patio - what a bunch of jerks), and always cheer on the spartans while lapping up an ES latte.

The ES latte was named after one of the greatest Spartans of all time! Here is the story:

Gamedays at Biggby Coffee: The Enlightened Spartan Latte

(2008 Dec 29)--OK, step aside all you college sports bloggers. How many of you have had a coffee drink named after your blog?
Didn't think so. Ha!

So, the ES gets this email from Biggby Coffee Store #241 today:

"ES, you are MAN! I have been checking out your podcast and website for years now, and am thankful for all your great info and commentary. i used to work in a chicago law office so i was pretty bored most of the time, but thankfully i had your podcasts to help the week go by. now i own a biggby coffee shop in bloomfield hills, which is a whole lot more fun. this fall i created a latte in honor of the spartans, which i served to customers on the day of each game. i had to name it, so what better name then the 'Enlightened Spartan Latte!' keep up the great work!"
OK, the question the comes to mind is... is that an Irish Coffee???? Seriously, thanks for the props. If there are any bars or breweries out there that are similarly interested for making beer named after the ES website, that would rock... "ESIPA" would be a great pale ale; or "Enlightened Spartan Porter" wouldn't be so bad either...

The ES will get into a bit of his "disclaimer" below, but bottom line, we appreciate the SPARTAN SPIRIT. Let's do one better, and take any profits from the sale of said coffee and send it to the Spartan athletics scholarship fund. Maybe we can make Bloomfield Hills Biggby Coffee (1952 S. Telegraph Rd, phone: 248-253-6100) the Spartan coffee capital of the world! In turn, the ES might be able to put an add for the store on the ES website....

However, there is something that needs to be dealt with first. Namely, a few years ago, the ES emailed the President of Beaners (Mike McFall) about receiving poor service and product out of a new driveup facility in Lansing - he responded on March 22, 2006. Very nice, he apologized and said he'd reimburse me and send some discounts to make up the error. Problem: The ES never received anything. Thusly, to make a point, the ES spends his money at Starbucks or Speedway instead. ... But, I still encourage other Spartan faithful to try the "ES Latte" on January 1 at the Biggby in Bloomfield Hills

Jim from store 4 comes to visit!!!

JIM the world famous Biggby customer came to visit us at the store today!! We first met Jim, shortly after we were adopted by Rose and Joe, at Biggby store #4 in East Lansing. Jim is one of the nicest guys around, and has a very discriminating taste when it comes to coffee. He is a two or three times a day Biggby customer, but his trip to Joe and Rose's store was only his second to a Biggby store outside of East Lansing, so it was a very special honor to have him visit. Joe and Rose met Jim while working for the Marvelous Mohammed and Fabulous Fathy in East Lansing. They saw him so often that they quickly became friends - they often mention how he brightened up their day every time they saw him. In fact, Jim took a 45 minute detour just to meet up with Joe and Rose at the store today!

There is only ONE drink that Jim ever gets at Biggby - Joe named it the "JIM SPECIAL!" What is in this drink you ask? We are not telling!! But we bet that if you come on into the store and order one, Joe and Rose will fill you in on what you have been missing!

It was a pleasure JIM!
